This eight member youth council is the governing body of Pathways youth programming. All eight elected members meet biweekly and work hard to contribute to the day-to-day functioning of youth programming: planning and approving scheduled activities, workshops and outings, while also planning and executing community projects and fundraising efforts for special events. Council members represent Richmond Youth Service Agency, Pathways Aboriginal Centre and the Richmond community at large at various regional/provincial Aboriginal youth conferences and forums. The council actively promotes the centre’s youth programming to friends, family, and peers with the support of all of its members.

Aboriginal Youth Council Elections on January 21, 2010 from 5 -7pm
Youth should get their nominations in now for President, Treasurer, Secretary, & Cultural Advisory. Any youth who are interested in running should be at the Jan. 14th meeting
Examples of what the positions maybe responsible for:
President:
- fill in for absent members
- call meeting to order & adjournment
- work with secretary to create agendas
- keeping meeting on task and on time
Treasure:
- creates budget
- organizes fundraising
Secretary:
- taking notes during each meeting & emailing to all members
- phone and remind members of meetings
- work with President to create agendas
- responsible for all necessary communication
Cultural Advisor:
- research on culture
- provide one cultural teaching at all meetings
- organize special activities (sweats, Pow Wows)
- responsible preparing blessing and brushing at all meetings
- responsible for creating a recommended reading list of cultural books
- responsible for making connections with local bands (leaders & youth groups) and Elders
- must provide information to President &/or Secretary if they are going to be absent from a meeting
